Fed: Swan says stimulus critics have learnt nothing

Federal Treasurer WAYNE SWAN has taken a swipe at critics of the government's economic
stimulus measures .. saying they were imperative to sustaining growth in the March quarter.

Amid better-than-expected economic data .. the opposition has been calling on the government
to reconsider stimulus measures to avoid public spending crowding out private investment.

Mr SWAN has told the ABC .. it would be a mistake to withdraw stimulus prematurely
.. saying any winding back would hurt thousands of small businesses.

He says the opposition has learnt nothing in the last five months .. and would have
pushed Australia into recession if it had its way.

Mr SWAN says the stimulus will be kept for as long as needed.
