NSW: Holidaymakers warned of Murray algae
Holidaymakers planning a break along the Murray River on the NSW Victorian border are
being warned an algae bloom makes the water unsafe for swimming.
Authorities have spent several weeks monitoring the blue-green algae bloom .. which
has spread along an 800km stretch of the river from Albury to Swan Hill.
NSW Water Minister PHIL COSTA says it was hoped the bloom would disappear .. but so
far it's spreading.
He's urged people to continue with their plans to visit the area over the upcoming
Easter break and school holidays .. but warns access to the river for swimming will be
restricted.
