Qld: NZ holidaymaker dies while snorkelling in central Qld

BRISBANE, April 8 AAP - A New Zealand holidaymaker died today while snorkelling atLady Elliott Island, south of Gladstone, on the central Queensland coast.

A police spokesman said the 66-year-old woman had drowned while snorkelling off thecoral island at about 2.15pm (AEST) today.

She was believed to be on holiday from New Zealand, he said.

It is believed the woman had been snorkelling near the shore of the popular divingdestination before she died.

Lady Elliott Island is the southern-most coral cay on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef.
