In their post-season run, the UConn men's basketball team won five games in five days to win the Big East tournament and then won six additional games in the NCAA tournament.
My question is: How does the individual student benefit from such tournaments?
The schools, broadcasting companies, sponsors, vendors, stadiums, hotel chains, restaurants, etc., make millions off these tournaments, but the athlete gets only his or her scholarship. Is that enough for the time, energy and revenue these athletes put in and earn for all involved but themselves?
